Established Goals: W. 6.2 Write informative/ explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas, concepts, and information through the selection, organization, and analysis of relevant content.
Understanding: Students will understand... When writing informative text and explanatory texts they need to select and organize the information that they plan to convey. When writing informative and explanatory texts they must support their writing with details such as examples and evidence.  Adding quotes and relevant references to their writing will help convey their understanding of the topic.	Essential Questions: How will they introduce the topic of their text? Why it is important to organize the information they plan to write about. How to organize their supporting text so the reader is able to identify the facts and understand the main idea. What learning materials can be used to include quotes or references that support the informative and explanatory text.
Students will know: How to write informative and explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey an idea using supporting details.  How to organize their ideas into relevant concepts that support a main idea.  How to effectively support their main idea using quotes or references.	Students will be able to: Write an organized informative/ explanatory text that is supported by relevant content. Take conveyed ideas and concepts and use them as supporting details to convey and explain a main idea.  Share their work with other classmates and support their ideas conveyed by theory texts.
